I am biporlar/add and I have been to rehab for narcotic substance abuse. I need help because I am on medication for bipolar and just have been put on Concerta 54mg...and see no change except for more moodiness. If I switch to adderall..will it affect any of my other disorders?
My experience and stuff that I've read lead me to believe that stimulants are not very good for those with Bipolar Disorder. I would check with your doc.

i have a "secondary" bipolar dx and take 90 mg of dexedrine and that slows my thoughts down levels my mood and helps me sleep better than any mood stabilizer out there and there are clinical trials being done now that indicate that when those dx's co-occur and the mood is stable adderall or "mixed-amphetamine salts" are considered the medication of choice. I personally hated adderall made me shake like a chihuahua

concerta for add and lithium for your bipolar. you need both.
if i just take lithium, i am even keeled and not too ****y, but nothing gets done..
if i take just concerta, i am a madman focusing and doing way too much and the slightest little thing will send me to the moon with anger....
I take trileptal for mood stability, adderall for add and celexa for depression. Adderall is good for me.
Overall, I'm feel less volatile but it could be situational. My tendencies toward road rage are a good measure of where I'm at - and I'm definitely feeling less rage. More patience, less snapping.
