Hi all. I am brand new not only to this forum but to forums period! So I do not know how to look for the info I need. I am 38yo male in the northern Baltimore MD area. My problem right now is that my primary care phys. gave me two psychiatrist names to see for my ADD...but neither participates in my insurance. I have a list of HUNDREDS of participating doctors in my plan in my area...but none states in the plan info that they treat adult ADD. How does one EFFICIENTLY go about finding a psych that will treat me asap? I will greatly appreciate all replies.
Thanks you so much!!

Can you ask your doc to recommend one of the docs on your list? You should be able to do that just over the phone.
Welcome to the forums :)
You could also call those two docs who aren't on your plan and ask them for recommendations. They should have recomendations of people in the same field who they respect, and maybe one of them will be on your plan.
If you have time and like to pick things apart completely, you could see if the hundreds of docs on your plan list have individual websites - often there they will give much more detailed information about what they specialize in.
Does your plan have a website where you can search for a doctor? Some have simple searches (that may not designate ADHD into "child ADHD" and "adult ADHD"), but others have very complex ones where you can find a doc on a particular road, with particular office hours, and who treats adult ADHD. That might be a way, too.
Good luck!

Make a list of Written Questions and get on the phone with Docs who do participate in your insurance plan?
Question #1: do you beleive in Adult ADD?
