Hey guys,
My doctor recently had me up my lexapro dosage from 10mg a day to 20mg a day (because of GAD), and I feel like my hyperactivity has gotten worse that it might be because of the lexapro. I was wondring if anyone else has ever had a similiar experience.

I don't feel like hyperactive would really describe what happened to me when I went up to 20 mg lexapro-- but I think I would describe it as very very awake and alert and I had a difficult time winding down to actually sleep at night. I'm taking some sleep aids now so I don't know if it naturally goes away. but for me, that's the effect it had.

I have to say that sometimes I thought that Lexapro and Cylert made some of my ADD symptoms worse - like what wasn't there before now is. I liked Lexapro, but after about 3 years there came to be too many downs with the ups, so I wanted to take something else and now I'm on Effexor XR, which keeps me on an even keel.
I think it's good to just change meds every few years because our bodies (hence our brains) get used to one kind and since all are addictive they lose their effectiveness. I take my meds first thing in the morning because on Lexapro if I took it at 10:00 am or later there was no sleep that night.

Lexapro made me move my legs and feet too much, had no control over it, miserable, tried to make me fat too but I quit taking it. Did nothing for anxiety/worry which in my case is probably part of having a hypermind. My feet were still restless after a year after stopping Lexapro, only gradually going away but never entirely, still happens from time to time, never happened before Lexapro. It felt damaging... neurological? damaging. Like alot of other meds I've been on over the years, I'm real scared of the stuff. Wish I'd never tried it but everyBody different.

Before being dx w/ ADD, I tried lexapro for depression/anxiety. It was so bad and this was at just 5mg. My anxiety went way up and like you described, I couldn't stop moving. Constantly being in motion was an off and on issue before, but now it is continuous. And I've been off lexapro for at least 1 1/2 years now :eyebrow:. It was not good. Needless to say, I wasn't on it very long at all.
Effexor worked better, but by then my body was all messed up I think. Things also got very bad when I had to lower that dose due to high blood pressure.

I agree. For me, lexapro was a vicious med.

Lexapro did nothing for me good or bad but I've had weird reactions from other anti-depressants so I guess it depends on the person. For example Paxil made me extrememly angry and aggressive while Effexor turned me into a zombie. A zombie in a coma would be the best description since I couldn't get out of bed.
