I know Provigil is prescribed a lot for Narcolepsy. Do insurance companies deny coverage of a drug when it is prescribed for some other condition? Here's my example- A doctor prescribes Provigil for ADD. Does the insurance company know the diagnosis of ADD? And therefore deny coverage? Does the diagnosis even matter when it comes to insurance coverage??
I'm thinking that if this IS the case, people may pretend to have a certain condition in order to get their drug of choice.

I don't know about your insurance but we have BC/BS and I was given Provigil yesterday. I went to the pharmacy to pick it up and all I had to pay was my co-pay.:D

I think the diagnosis does matter. But I know as far a Provigil it is considered to be an add drug also.

That's great runin.
I wonder if I should call the insurance company and just ask if they'd cover it (provigil) for ADD? I'd like to ask them about coverage for several ADD meds! I guess that would be the only way to find out. (?)
Also, I know for Ritalin, you can take time off from the meds and start again. Does anyone know if you can do that with Provigil? Thanks!
