Hi,

When I started 10mg of Rit, I felt an instant effect. It calmed me down physically and allowed me tohave control over my thoughts. It was great for my self esteem too, since I had better control over my negative thoughts and could sort them. After a few weeks, I wasn't getting the same effectiveness that I originally had so we upped to dosage to 20mg(3-4 times a day). I felt a little more hyper but never again achhieved that "in control" feeling.

I also stopped taking Effexor a few months ago. Now I'm very anxious all the time. Not only am I feeling physically shakey, but I have no control over my thoughts any more. I'm constantly thinking of posible negative situations that could occur in the future. Im working on focusing on my breathing to try to anchor myself into the present to stop the annoying thoughts.

I see my doc in a little over a week. If I could get the right combo for my ADHD and Anxiety, it would be so cool

Unfortunately all stimulants can be anxiogenic to some degree. If you aren't getting a significant beneficial effect and a ton of side effects, it may be time to switch medications.

I think I might go on a Rit vacation to see how it makes me feel. Right now I'm dosing according to how anxious I am at that particular day.

thanks,

Hello Al,

You could try introducing a more pure SSRI such as Celexa or Lexapro and seeing if this has any beneficial effect on your anxiety. It's FDA approved for that purpose, if that makes any difference.

Good luck.

HI,

I saw the doc a week and a half ago. He recomended going back on the Effexor since it did work before. I did a week of 37.5 and now am on a week of 75. Then I jump back to the 150mg. After I level out, I'll try the Rit again.

I too tried Ritalin. Yeah, I felt more energy, but I felt anxious all the time. I was like on constant PMS mode. Moody as heck and stressing out over everything. I drove everyone around me crazy. Not to mention that I felt like I was going crazy.

I switched back to Strattera recently, which I stopped because it made me sleepy. I now take it at night before bed and have seemed to lost the sleepy effect. I feel much more stable, relaxed, and able to focus.
