<!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->Hello -- I'm new here, and seeking advice on starting meds tomorrow.

I took a break from meds for one year but have been struggling and decided to take them again. Today I saw my primary care doc and she prescribed the following:

* generic version of Wellbutrin SR, 200 mg (100 mg, 2x daily)
* Adderall XR, 20 mg

I have taken both these meds in the past. I took Wellbutrin SR for about 8 years (up to 450mg; both by itself and in conjunction with other meds), and took Adderall XR for about 2 years. But as I said, I have been on no meds for the past year.

My question (which I forgot to ask my doctor today) is: should I re-start both meds together, or ease myself into it by taking one for a few days and then adding the other? If the latter, which med do I start first?

I've been on Wellbutrin by itself so I know a bit more of what to expect from that one. I've never taken just Adderall by itself so am inclined to maybe try that one alone first for a few days... but not sure what is best. I'm worried that starting both meds at the same time is going to be a huge shock to my system.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks,
Gigi

My doc just started me on Wellbutrin as a base and then will start me on Adderall in a week or two. My suggestion would be to start Wellbutrin first. Mainly because Adderall can increase anxiety and Wellbutrin helps ease that side effect. Wellbutrin aslo takes a while to stabilize in your system (about 8 days).
