Hi everyone,

I am new to the site and newly diagnosed with ADD. This Wednesday we are discussing the areas I feel need to be addressed with medication. Very supportive counselor and Dr. who has a number of adult patients with ADD.

Last year I completed my Master of Science in Education after waiting a long time to return to school. I had to work so much harder than most of my fellow students but managed to achieve my goal of a 4.0 GPA for the first time in my life. This experience has had tremendous positive impact on my life. I am becoming a very confident, self-assured woman who still battles feelings of being defective and stupid.

My diagnosis comes as a huge relief. It explains so much about me. Knowing that I am not defective or crazy or stupid is helping me see myself in a very favorable light. I am hoping the medication with be another step in putting all the pieces of my life together.

I look forward to chatting with everyone and learning and sharing about living with ADD.

Becky

Also glad to have you here... and congratulations on having been so successful so far. Just think what you can accomplish NOW, knowing what you do about the things that have been trying to slow you down!

Welcome! And Congratulations on your success!

As someone who's approaching the process of earning a MS in Psych (and then hopefully a PhD), your story inspires me! Thank you! :D

Congrats!

Please keep me updated on your progress. You have an advantage-you are know you are ADD. I over compensated because I was still in the dark about the reasons for my struggles.

PS
did you know that Psych students are the most tested of all college students? Look for a graduate assisstantship. This will help pay your tuition and provide a small stipend. If you teach classes you will have that much more compassion for your students. But don't let them get away with being truly lazy.
