Okay so ritalin and concerta both gave me headaches, inreased heart rate, and I couldn't sleep at all so my doctor had me try strattera for my add. Now I don't think its really working I still have all the add symptoms and I'm looking for something else to try. I Suggested adderall but my doc said it would probably produce the same side effects that ritalin and concerta gave me. So now I'm thinking of suggesting wellbutrin. Did anyone here have bad SE on concerta and ritalin then tried wellbutrin and it worked? I'm pretty much desperate here.... I'm starting to think that my doctor thinks I'm nuts because nothing seems to be working without giving me side effects. Can anyone here help me?

Wellbutrin works well for some folks -- not for others. That's the problem with the current state of science with these medication -- since everyone is a bit different, you kind of have to try it and see how it works for you. Hope you find the one you tolerate well and works for you.
McTavish posted this in another thread:
Wellbutrin has worked wonders for me for many years.
The only time it stopped working was when I was switched to generic buproprion by my insurance company.
I don't do well on generics. At any rate, I'm back on brand name Wellbutrin and it continues to work well in concert with Adderall.
You might also look up this link -- it's a study about the effectiveness of Wellbutrin for treating ADHD.

Hi there;
Wellbutrin may very well work for you. As Scattered said, everyone is different and reacts differently to medications. The only way to really know if a medication is good for you is to give it a try. I have heard of many people who have had negative experiences with Strattera, and yet it worked like a dream for me. It really is very individual.
Also, it is not necessarily true that because you had bad side effects on Ritalin and Concerta that you will have the same on Adderall.There are many on this board for whom Ritalin and/or Concerta didn't work, but who found Adderall helpful. Of course, always follow your doctor's instructions, but if you are still interested in Adderall, you may want to discuss it further with him/her.
Best wishes! :D
