I have been diagnosed by 1 doctor as being rapid cycling manic depressive, but 1 disagrees. The doctor who disagreed was a child physcologist mind u!! I also had a probable from a specialist in the field. I have AD/HD, ODD, and Aspergers Syndrome on top of this also!! And im only 18!! I havent got a clue about bipolar really and even thouhg im on a mood stabilizer (Tegretol) i tend 2 just tell myself im fine and i dont have it. It makes everything easier 2 deal with. Its hard enough with everything else i have so i am sort of not wanting 2 admit 2 myself yet. I wanted 2 get a proper diagnosis but the NHS is really slow and i have now idea when i will know at all.

To be honest especially ADHD and the connected moodswings is often misdiagnosed as rapid-cycling bipolar, being "hyper" can be mistaken for manic episodes and the anxieties/depression connected with the daily frustrations of ADHD and ODD then complete the picture.

It's obviously not possible for any of us to tell whether or not you have it, but just be aware that it is quite common for ADHD and ODD to be misdiagnosed as bipolar. Mood stabilisers are commonly used for ODD as well though - you didn't mention whether you felt they were working at all?
