When I was on adderall I hated rap. Im talkin could not stand it one bit. I started really getting into the cure a lot when I was medicated. Now that I am not on Adderall, I dont like the cure and rap isnt so bad anymore. Is that weird or what!

I do not think my musical preferences have as much to do with my medications as my maturity.

I used to be very intolerant of music, especially if music was out of tune ( exact pitch I mean exact) or if it was not in prefect sync! Up until about five years ago when I began loosing some of the auditory acuteness (mainly with high pitches) I had a very narrow musical preference because any thing not precise was torture! Twang country was like "perfect pitch" hell.

Begining treatment for my ADD did change my approach to the more unpleasant musical attempts.

I have been on medications sense 1993, but did not begin expanding my musical listening until about two years ago!

I can see how medications may have an effect on ones musical preferences as the meds may change mood and mood is one of the biggest factors behind my choices in syle.

You know, I noticed the same thing. I have always disliked Phil Collins' music. Start taking adderall, think its great. Weird!!

ok this is just a joke but not liking present day rap is just because you are aware it sucks...

bad joke I know but I miss the 80s and early 90s. Those times had some good rap songs.

I find that complex musical passages are my preference. I find myself trying to indentify the instruments.

Case in point I listen to Maxwells - Urban Hang Suite album religiously.
I seriously can listen to it back to back for days on end.

I love complex music, Ginnal !!!
In my case, however, I find myself identifying notes within notes..if you can understand that.

Good to talk to you again by the way !! (0:

My musical preference, has nothing to do with the ADHD meds, I'm prescribed.

Just my opinion on this, and my musical preference, while remaining constant, in my prefering 'complex' music- has varied over the years, in which artists, I like and listen to.

nah, sry just jokin :D

I love complex music, Ginnal !!!
In my case, however, I find myself identifying notes within notes..if you can understand that.i believe i might have an inkling :P

do u mean u look for hidden meaning in each note, why did the composer choose to use that note instead of this other one, it made the piece transpose to something more minor, why? what is he/she or heshe trying to portray by doing this?

that kinda thing?

no? yes? yes? no no da beh doe beh doe deddle doe no?

do u also when listening to a amazing and expressive solo (as refered to in this case as hells kitchen by dream theater :D gotta love that song :P ) get hit by a wave of feeling and emotion that leaves u quite calm at first and then u wonder y?

these thoughts i feel i type instead
so quick they come so fast they sped :D

by the way if u like complexity try listening to dream theater, highly advice it they're one of those extremely talented bands that u can't find easily, half of they're songs aren't great but the other half are amazing

it's kinda hit or miss with them, they either get a bullseye or miss the board ;)

i would especially recommend the album "falling into infinity" or "scenes from a memory" either of those albums preferably the first

.....

*waits patiently for the big bag of money to come along from his dream theater advertisement* ;)

nah just jokin, but i do recommend them

that kinda thing?Yes !!!- listening and lifting each note, and understanding the significance of each one, individually, then combined with other notes.

do u also when listening to a amazing and expressive solo get hit by a wave of feeling and emotion... ?Yes !! Same with certain parts of a song, as well as solos.
It might be euphoric/melancholy..I've even 'felt' 'a questioning mode'...like when I hear a piano chord struck repeatedly, in specific solos....

I know this may not be your taste in music, Dmx..but try listening to a few songs, from the soundtrack from The Merchant of Venice, or songs from the CD titled Qntal III.
Those are just a few that I'm making reference to...

And definitely Sting's 'Shape of My Heart' from the CD Ten Summoner's Tales (my absolute favorite song in the universe)
