There's already a thread on this: http://www.addforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22863 Scattered 04-14-06, 04:20 PM My understanding is that there are no independently done scientific studies that back this up. On the other hand my grades improved pretty dramatically in high school when I went to a sugar free, non processed diet -- who knows maybe it was hormones or something else. One thing I do know about sugar is that when a child (or adult) gets a sugar or simple carbohydrate dump -- their sugar goes up fast -- lots of insulin is released to bring it back down (too much in fact) and an hour or so later there is a low blood sugar condition and a starving child. Since the the glucose metabolism in the brain is already lower in an ADDer, lots of sugar followed later by low blood sugar sure isn't going to help. Lots of sugar can even make a non ADD kid look pretty hyperactive and inattentive. Personally, I don't think it's a cure, but it might minimize the impact of ADD especially for a milder case.
