Can ADD get worse as you get older? Can it get better, worse, and then better? Like stages in your life where your ADD is bad for a few months?
I have been being so compulsive lately, its really bad. I will buy something because I think I want it. Then 30 minutes later I think, DAMNIT why didnt I wait. I dont even have money to be spending. Its like I have no self control.

2B2T...I have found the joy of impulse buying..and the joy of returning it when I realize I really don't need/want it !!
I always buy things from large department stores..EG KMART or Target...they are happy to refund if you keep your docket..
No excuse needed..just return for refund if you don't use it..:D
I think we have better times, and worse times too....
I also know someone who impulse buys..but instead of taking it home, sticks it on lay-by with a small deposit, which gives her time to decide if she really needs/wants it after all, and doesn't have to go back if she changes her mind..
It is just a learnt strategie from both of us I think :faint:
Good luck anyway:p

Man my ADD is getting worse or something. I have been spending out of control and its like I justify why I need it when I buy it. Then 20 mins later I justify why I dont need it.

My ADHD gives me more problems when I've got high anxiety.

It can get both better and worse. Maturity frequently makes symptoms milder but normal aging and for women perimenopause and menopause can make things much worse. Also life changes which include more responsibilites and required more of one's executive functions can worsen things. Mine has definately gotten worse the last two or three years. I told my counselor one day that I felt like an Alzheimer patient, but instead of watching my memory go away I was watching my self control slip from my grasp (my short term memory too actually). If you want to read about this, Thomas Brown gives a good explanation of the improvement and decline in his book Attention Deficit Disorder: The Unfocused Mind in Children and Adults.

I have always felt that my symptoms got worse when life actually slowed down a little. I am great in a crisis but let things get calm and I start creating my own crisis's.
Like waiting to the last minute to do things or worrying myself to death about the husband and kids.
First, I want to say hi to you- from one LA Native Belle to another. (0;
"Can ADD get worse as you get older?"
In answering this question with regards to only myself- No.
Only because I've become more informed how ADHD affects me and my life.
Information about the meds that work vs. don't work/real life 'stimulation/excitement' that's a good source for me to pursue vs. that which is an absolute hazzard (this doesn't mean that I sit home and freaken' knit- it just means I've learned to avoid 'stimulating' things, that will land my butt somewhere I can't get out of, now)/understanding the limitations of my attention span vs. forcing myself to focus on *something* and not taking breaks, when on my own time.
Can it get better, worse, and then better?"
See above.
Peace,
