I am a fairlly young adult and I have almost constant thoughts about a cute actor I have a crush on. It's like no matter what I do, everything reminds me of him. The thoughts are fun and don't hinder my performance at work at all. But, I feel that I'm the only one who has obsessive thoughts of this nature, and I can't seem to control them very easily. It makes me feel like I'm some kind of weirdo even though people generally view me as "normal". I feel like a teenybopper!:o
Is there anyone out there who has these thoughts???

ADDers have the ability to hyperfocus on a topic of interest for years! A cute guys definately qualifies as an interesting topic! I'm sure your not alone. I've definately been there and done that. (Ah -- just an old married lady these days!).

I do that. I obsess on actors I crush on, and on things I want to purchase. And on hobbies I'm trying to get good at, and on things I want to learn, and on silly ideas I think will change my life, and on worries, and on....EVERYTHING!
I've always done this - since I was a kid.
I've done the CONSTANTLY thinking of actors I crush on for years at a stretch. I don't do it that strongly with people I actually know...I guess because I don't get to assume all sorts of wonderful perfect things about them. :D

I do this too! I tend to obsess about actors too because then I never meet them and don't embarrass myself by accidentally giving away my secret!;) :o

I do this, have done it, and probably will do it again, for me emotions get all confused and lines get blurry that shouldn't be-because of the stupid emotional spin that I tend to put on ordinary stuff, or I imagine things that will never happen that way, wish I could stop doing that and get a major dose of reality sometimes-guys that are cute are prime for me, but I don't know too many, what makes us do this, I wonder?

I continue to be blown away by what I'm reading on this forum. I'm fairly knowledgeable abou OCD but had never heard of hyperfocusing before. YES! I've done this too!
I'm now 32 but since age 13 I've been obsessed with celebrity males I had crushes on. Tennis players, Olympic Athletes, Rock stars, Movies Stars. So obsessed that they're all I thought about. I often wondered if my obsessions with these persons was somehow related to my OCD but never knew for sure. Now I'm convinced.

When I was a young teen I was CONVINCED that Andy Gibb would come and take me as his bride.
Please don't throw things at me :p
I have found obsessive thoughts harder to deal with than rituals. One thing that works for me is to try to pick up on a new thought instead of struggling against the obsessive one. In short... distract yourself... It sort of works for me.
