How long did it take you to feel the full effect of this drug also did it make you groggy during the day or even if you took at night just wondered?:) TIA

I've been on 5mg of Lexapro for 4 weeks. In terms of feeling "the effects", I'm less disinterested/numb but still very unhappy. My doc just bumped it up to 10mg yesterday. It should start doing something soon.

Anyway, on the days I don't take Adderall, YES I noticed serious lethargy and sleepiness. My doc told me to try taking it at night instead. It helped with the daytime lethargy a little, so you might talk with your doctor about switching the time you take it. Good luck. :)

I don't remember if it made me groggy or not, but I started feeling the effects of the Lexapro within the first week. Within 4 it was in full swing.
Changed my life.
I'm not on any meds now, but if I were to go back on one - it would be the Lexapro. My oldest son is on it and it helps him a great deal, when he remembers to take it daily. It really doesn't work if you only take it every other day :p

I have been on Lexapro 10mg for eight days now and don't notice much difference at all yet, maybe a little bit less anxiety that's it, but not much difference with my mood. I'm not groggy at all and I take it first thing in the morning but my appetite is a little less lately. That's the only thing I've noticed.

I took Lexapro when it seemed that Paxil wasn't taking care of my anxiety. It didn't help me very much. My doc upped the dose twice but it only made me clench my teeth and feel sleepy. I don't take it anymore. Instead I take Ativan at night to help calm my mind and I"ll take ahalf dose dureing the day if I"m feeling stressed.

I remember when I first started taking Citalopram. I had a persistant headache, chest pains, and the rubber band on the head effect. I also slept only half my regular hours and I was sweating so bad that I walked around naked in my house and had to sit on a dry towel and exchange it 3 times a day because it would become logged with sweat (this was even when I had a fan blowing full force on me).

I would glady live my life with these side-effects because the mental relief that I got was unparalleled! My mind was clear and I could finally think rationally. I then found out why my 6 years of intensive therapy were so challenging. I simply needed the medication to fix the problem.

I had the headaches for about a month or so, and my sleep problem got better week by week until it had fully corrected itself about a year later. The tiredness was well worth it for me. Even being tired I felt invincible because I was happy, motivated and optimistic.

The medication may seem a little 'rocky' at first as your body adjusts. I found I was stable in about a month. I had changed to Lexapro about 6 months ago or so and I'm finding I'm getting better and better with time just like my doctor said I would.

It's well worth the wait in my opinion, but you can decide for yourself. :)
