Hi!

I am new to this and have been reading all the reponses. I have a 13 year old who was diagnosed with ADHD in the 3rd grade. This has been the worst year yet. Grades have really fallen and behaviors are awful from showing out in class to arguing with teachers. It has been reported to me that on the bus trip to school this morning, he pulled out his fishing knife and threatened to "cut" her is she touched him again. I was not aware there was any problems with this little girl but apparently there has been. They are considering putting him in ALC school because of behaviors. We have taken him to counselors and none of this seems to help. He is on 56mg of Concerta XL once a day. I don't know what to do anymore. Any advice?

Tracy, I'm sorry things are so difficult right now. You might try reading one of Russell Barkley's books on Oppositional Behavior (I'm not sure of the name) and/or ADD (Taking Charge of ADHD). You can find them at www.addwarehouse.com (http://www.addwarehouse.com). There are parents who have been at this a lot longer than me, and may have more experience to draw on.
