I took Adderall today for the first time for my ADD innattentive and my movement have become really smooth and easy. It feels like it takes no energy at all. Before I would move pretty slow and try to concentrate on my movements because they were a little shakey.

Well Im kinda dissappointed I took an Adderall XR 20mg at 2:40pm and I started to feel it work at 4:05pm and crashed at 6:30pm and at 7:50pm I started feeling normal again. I don't know if it was the Adderall kicking back in or just releived that the crash was over with. It didn't last nearly as long as it was supposed too. It felt like as soon has it reached peak I crashed minutes later. Why couldn't my doctor just give me Adderall IR? At least then I would be able to reup before a crash. But now I get to feel normal for 2 hours and feel like super **** for the rest of the day. Im depressed now I have to wait even longer before I get to feel better. Why don't doctors just stick with what works?

Well this morning I took 20mg XR and went to school it took 1hour and 30 minutes to kick in. Anyways when it kicked in I felt pretty good and my friend commented on me being happy. Anyways 10 minutes later I started being a little paranoid and zombie-like and wondered if 1 more would make me feel normal. Nope it made me turn into a zombie and I think everyone thought I was depressed but it was just the meds. I bet people think Im crazy because for the past 2 weeks with experiencing with ADD medications Ive been going from normal one minute to zombie like the next when the meds kick in. I don't like not being able to laugh and joke around with people.

Okay this morning I took half a dose of 20mg XR at 10:30AM. The effects started to come on at 11:30AM. Started feeling pretty good at 1:20PM and went out to see a friend at work. Noticed when I went outside that Adderall still gave me that moon gravity feel, cool and My vision was noticebly sharper too. Right now it's 2:09PM and it feels like I'm on the edge of being of sedated so I think I could go a little lower on the dose.

You're going to have to ask your doctor about that. :)

Hey Jack,

I'm curious, how did you take a half dose of the Adderall XR 20 mg? I'm taking the same thing, and it's in a time-release capsule... so my understanding was that you can't split the dose or it messes up the effectiveness.

Also wanted to say that from what I've read here on the boards, it seems many people experience a sort of "roller coaster" effect from the XR.

But keep in mind you have only been taking it a few days. You need to give your body enough time to adjust to the med before you start changing the dosage. Just my opinion.

Good luck,
Gigi

If you take a dose and it makes you feel sad, my doctor said that is when you have taken too much.

The zombie effect is because the adderall stabilizes your mood. As for the paranoia, that is just part of being on an amphetamine and the way you respond to it. For example, when I used to drop methamphetamine tablets for fun, it would bring schizophrenia out of me.

Maybe try to get instant release adderall? It would be less "wavy" and you'd be able to more accurately see what dose works best for you. In the meantime, try sticking to one dose for a few days straight before changing anything as your body needs to adjust to the medication.

Well this morning I took 20mg Adderall xr and it did pretty good I wasn't a zombie today. But I can tell that Concerta was better at keeping me focused and to tell you the truth they both give me different effects. Adderall allows me to move freely and feel a little better. Concerta gets me interested in everything and allows me to focus really good and it makes class seem fun. I dunno but I think I need to take both of them cause I think they compliment each other. Can a person take both of them at the same time?

Good luck,
GigiI would take the capsule and open it up and take only half , I don't think it messes anything up cause in the pamphlet it says you can open up the capsule to mix with apple sauce.

Well this morning before work I took a 20mg XR pill and didn't even feel any effects even after waiting for 4 hours and This is a new job and it's hard work and I was making a lot of dumb mistakes and still had 7 hours left. So I opened up a 20mg XR capsule and poured the whole thing into my mouth and chewed it up and swallowed. I started to feel it work 30 minutes later and I started think more clearly. This dose lasted longer than it usually does but it still felt like it could be better.

Im thinking my brain has adjusted already to the Adderall and I think XR is just too slow of a release to allow the adderall to build up in the blood. Like taking quick huge hits off a cigarette will give you a head rush but a person with a cigarette twice has big taking small hits over the course of a couple of hours won't feel a thing.

Jack, I think you might want to call your doc before you adjust your meds. My sons friend was doing that and it almost killed him.
Please be safe,

Why don't doctors just stick with what works? For the first week or so I took Adderall, I felt a combination of "high/loopy" and general happiness that I was able to do so many things with such relative ease. Either those effects taper off or you simply become accustomed to them. I don't feel affected at all now when I take it.

If the XR doesn't work out for you, see if your doc will let you try the instant release kind (regular ol' Adderall). I gave up my IR and tried XR about a year ago for one month, then went right back to the IR. I like it much better.

Im scared now cause I looked up what kind of medical problems that are out there that causes muscle weakness and found out about Myasthenia gravis. One of the syptoms Myasthenia gravis is droopy eyelid(s) and I have noticed about a month ago that my left eye lid droops and was wondering what was causing that so It sounds like I could have it, But then I thought what would be causing my trouble with concentrating, memory, anxieties, and depression and I searched for something that was similiar but also worked on the brain and found Multiple Sclerosis. Oh man What if I have MS! Oh man just thinking about being messed up for the rest of my life sucks. Im going to the doctor frinday Im gonna ask her about this.
