View Full Version : ADDForums moved to a new server - Is it faster for you?
I'm happy to announce that ADDForums has been moved to a new server that should be many times more powerful than what we previously had. This is the first step in getting things fixed up around here, and hopefully a big one at that.
Please let us know in the poll and in a response (if you would like) if the page load times are any faster for you. It would be great if you also posted your location and what type of internet connection you are currently using (dial-up, dsl, cable, etc).
Enjoy!
David
PS. For some people it might be until mid-Friday before the changes propagate fully, though I am hoping it will all complete this evening. You will get a Forums Closed message until it has in your area so no worries.. If you are seeing this you are at the new server. :)
livinginchaos 04-21-06, 01:27 AM WOW! SO much faster for me, David!
I'm in Minnesota and at this moment on wireless
. . . . . . . . . .. . . . .
and now dial-up, which is also much faster.
Thank you so much, David!
I'm blown away! This is awesome! :)
I did an optimization on all of ADDForums database tables and it flashed by literally... No joke.. Last time I did that it hung for ever and timed out a few times. I couldn't even keep up with what it was chewing on and the server never saw a load of over .05 running them all the way.
I'm going to sleep good tonight... lol
It's loading pretty fast, David !!!
Thank you !!

I am on broad-band not dial up..
Nivek29 04-21-06, 03:31 AM yea they're loading much faster for me on a cable modem and my T3 at work.. the load time was like 0.9 seconds before and now its 0.016
Great to hear it.
Please keep the feedback coming. :)
meadd823 04-21-06, 05:33 AM I am in Georgetown Texas...using DSL during a rain storm....(sorry things like internet , phone and TV reception tend to go bonkers when it rains around here)
Guess we had out grown the "old one"....thank you!
runinl8 04-21-06, 02:04 PM The pages are quick. At work I use Broad band and at home I have a cable modem. In Alabama.
minn306 04-21-06, 06:36 PM I voted for the second one which was about the same. I am on cable internet in Minnesota.
I really like some of the new features though.
Thanks again David for all the hard work you put into this forum so all of us can enjoy it
Scattered 04-21-06, 06:57 PM It does seem very fast, but why couldn't I check two boxes -- faster and where am I and who are you people?:p
Thanks David!:)

ms_sunshine 04-21-06, 08:23 PM Ohio, DSL, and much faster. Thanks :) (and omg I was so tempted to click "Where Am I? What is this place? Who are you people!?! " Dangerous to offer that type of choice on a site for people with impulsivity issues :P)
chloe516 04-21-06, 08:31 PM I usually use wireless cable. It's faster for me too! But then again my old computer crashed last night and I got a new one today, so you might want to take my response with a grain of salt!;):p
chloe516 04-21-06, 08:36 PM hmmmmm I just posted and for some reason it never made it on the thread!
It's faster for me too, but my old computer crashed last night and I got a new one today, so not sure if it's the site, computer, or a combination of the two.
Love the last option for the poll!!!!:p

I actually voted they load much faster. It's very nice!
Definately loading faster! I haven't been around in a few months and it is night and day compared to then.
Hi everybody
I was just reading a fascinating series of responses on adult ADHD/ADD and Altzheimers but I don't seem to be able to find that forum again now that I have registered. Anyway, my question is does anyone know of any research between correlation/connection between between Aspergers and Alzheimers? Is an adult with Aspergers whose symptoms include ADD, severe learning disability, memory problems bec of that, OCD behaviours, not high IQ, physical problems such as severe hearing impairment, more likely to develop Alzhiemers or some form of senile demntia?
I haven't been able to find any formal research on that and was wondering if people here have any information/knowledge or experience regarding this. I guess my thinking is that if a person's brain is already compromised neurologically due to this developmental disorder he may be more likely to develop dementia in their later life, ie after 65?
:) Thanks
