View Full Version : Embarrassing question, but need info
spankthemonkey 04-22-06, 07:52 AM Hey guys,
Great site, I'm really learning a lot from all the posts I've been reading.
I'm a 33 year old guy and started taking Adderall about a month ago after being diagnosed with ADD (Inattentive). It is working very well and helping me focus, get my thought processes organized and actually get things accomplished at work.
I am having a few embarrassing problems and this seems like a safe place to ask, sorry in advance if this offends anyone! :D
First off, I've been insanely horny since I started taking Adderall. I'm not dating anyone at the moment, so it's very much a solo act if you know what I mean. This isn't necessarily a problem, but I just haven't done it this much since I was about 14 and maybe not even then!!! Is this a normal side effect and, if so, will it subside over time?
The other problem is directly related to the self-satisfaction mentioned above. At the 'happy ending' it hurts sometimes. It varies between a quick discomfort just for a second or two and it has hurt for as long as an hour or so after. Eventually it goes away...and it ain't enough to stop me from doing it, but it does have me concerned.
Again, sorry if this is too personal for any of you, I don't mean to offend. I just thought perhaps someone else who has been on Adderall of a similar medication might have some insight?
Thanks.

AllFiredUp 04-23-06, 01:43 AM When I started Adderall several months ago, my libido went from less than zero to OVERDRIVE in less than a week. It was a bit overwhelming for me, particularly because I had been taking anxiety meds that had, for all practical purposes, rendered me asexual for a few years.
I have managed to pull in the reigns a bit and definitely feel in control of it now. At least in my case, it's giving me VERY STRONG motivation to start dating again! =)

Thanks.I started Adderall about two years ago and experienced a big increase in sex drive for about two months or so. After that, it either went back to normal or maybe I just became accustomed to it?
One of my best friends started on Adderall last year and had a similar experience. On one hand I felt better knowing I wasn't the only one, but that was a bit too much info to know about my best buddy. haha I'm scarred for life!
AllFiredUp 04-23-06, 02:30 PM glade things are bett for you now allfired up eheh yeh it is a good motivation to star dateing again how long did you have the higher drvie for???......was it a couple mouths????.....dorm It's been just over five months since I started taking the drug and my libido is definitely still elevated. I think it just doesn't freak me out or worry me as much as it did at first. Like every other impulse we have, it's all about control and moderation.
Getting off my fat butt and working out has been a very effective way of channeling the new found energy.
Hyperion 04-24-06, 04:33 PM my experience has been that the libido went into overdrive at first, then I think my body slowly adjusted...it's not that it went down so much as I got used to the increase and knew to schedule in some "release time."
However, I also have found that it continues to pop up again with every dosage increase. The latest increase, when I switched to round-the-clock dosing, was interesting to say the least. I take it before bed to help me sleep, and I haven't had dreams like that since middle-school.
Anyways, you're not alone with this problem. The best advice I can give you is to use the opportuity costructively to explore and learn about your sexuality, what you enjoy and what you don't, what you're looking for in a woman, or whichever gender you'd prefer, and figure out what makes you tick. Later on down the road, the lessons you learn from this could wind up being really helpful. One of the iggest things that I think it taught me was to think about sex as being a biological need, no different from food or sleep, and therefore it made no sense to get more emotionally concerned over sex than over a steak or when bedtime should be.
skel1977 04-26-06, 03:58 PM Funny thread. Anyhow Im sure I jerk off more than anyone on this website and I have a GF. She gets so mad or jealous but I cant help it sometimes. I find this perfectly normal and am not embaressed at all except when the neighbors are looking in the window.
Hyperion 04-27-06, 07:44 PM My advice would be to buy a vibrator for your girlfriend, and a set of vlinds or curtains for your window.
Adamant1988 04-30-06, 08:37 AM I know when I was on Adderall I suffered a bit of hypersexuality, but I'm also Bipolar and I think that may have been what was causing it... Just don't do anything stupid. I engaged in some pretty risky behavior, thankfully I didn't pay for it the hard way (having a kid would be bad), but you get the idea. Be careful.
danceswthnobody 05-06-06, 01:11 AM I went for my monthly doctor visit a few days ago and discussed switching from regular Adderall to Adderall XR, at least for a month. I often forget to take my second dose each day (or forget to take it with me in the mornings to take after lunch). The whole issue of having it outside of the prescription bottle freaks me out a bit too.
I have been on 30mg twice daily for a while now, so he gave me the 30mg XR which is apparently the highest dosage they make. So far so good in most aspects. Same as previous dosage changes including headaches, lack of appetite and trouble sleeping.
The biggest issue has been the sexual side effects. WOW! I don't remember it being quite so intense even when I first started Adderall a couple of years ago. Heck, I don't remember being quite so 'revved up' when I was a hormonal teenager. lol
Anyway, I'm dealing with it the same way I always have and hope it'll subside a bit as it has before. In the meantime, now might be a great time to buy stock in the company that makes KY....hehe....
In the meantime, now might be a great time to buy stock in the company that makes KY....hehe....Astroglide is better. Not that I'd know.
