I am going to buy a Pocket PC in the next day or two. I am going for the Dell Axim X5. I won't be going for the GPS, but that is a possibility in it. I just got some money for my birthday and am going to make the purchase!

Look at the HP 2215 - I'm trading up, and think the 2215 is looking good, and also look at the new Dell Axim X3 if you are going to go Dell, its worth waiting for the X3, due out very soon.
The card slots you get are very important. For instance, getting GPS without a CF card slot is very difficult and more costly. Then you might have to go Blue Tooth and spend more on the blue tooth gps than on the pocket pc. But if you have a CF card slot, you can buy GPS for under a $100! I'm sure the importance of slot types is important in other possible add-ons, so look for the most flexible card slots. Also look at mhz speed of course, and bytes of ram. I think 64 mb ram should be the minimum with all the applications that are available.
Also, look at whether the battery can be removed and recharged, because these batteries dont stay charged veyr long at all - maybe 4 or 5 hours typically. Newer batteries seem to be staying charged 8 - 12 hours, so read carefully on how long the battery stays charged and if you can replac eit yourself. But if you need to change batteries, in some units, you can't - which means you have to send it back to the manufacturer for a new battery - which sucks, so think about removable battery option. Only a few of the new units have the removable battery choice, which allows you to change your own battery.
Also - good prices available on internet. Also, CompUSA offers a 99.00 deal where if it breaks you give it to them and they send it to the manuf for a week and give it back to you repaired...not a bad idea...i hear they break often. I'm sure the other sellers also offer some kind of exchange replace deals - so shop for those too (and let me knwo what you find out on that ! )
Thats all i can think of for now. Good luck shopping.

I have GPS on my phone, but I don't use it. I seem to have a little compass in my head.
