After having been PC+PSYDoc scripted, Generic Methylphenidate 10mg tabs, 20-80mgs daily, after 2 years, my PCDoc gave me brand, Ritalin (r) 20mg tabs, 3x daily.

WELL while i could tailor the 10mg IR tabs accordind to my activities, Taking even 1, 20mg Ritalin brand tabs, feels MUCH stronger, and lasts for a full 6-8 HRS, which can induce, anxiety, irritability, unfomfortable feelings.

I see now why MANY folks prefer IR ADD/HD Meds, as they have a more controlled effect on when their meds take/finish their effect.

i noticed a dramatic difference between 20mg ritalin LA capsules & 10mg methylphenidate tablets. on the 20mg LA, i would feel energetic in the morning, normal midafternoon, then really cranky & irritable in the early evening, right around "happy" hour. with the methylphenidate tablets, i can really customize my dosage by splitting the tabs & tapering off in the evening.

it's really helpful when i happen to be going to a concert or other evening social event. i can take the methylphenidate on the way out, be able to pay attention & socialize, then know it will be out of my system by bedtime.

I am somewhat of a ADD/HD/Narcolepsy, med/medical fiend, and have read extensively!!.

The Stimulants seem to be the treatmets of choice for MOST folks who have wised, uped to the fact that the SSRIs/SSNRIs, are VAstly, over pushed for MOST psych problems.

As a vereran of 6!! ADs!!+3 Far more helpfull Benzodiazepines,:
-Diazepam
-Clonazapam
-Alprazolam

I can honestly say that the "the evil, addictive benzodiazepines",
are vastly overlly rated in their addictive potentialy.
