Awww Tracy so sorry, its awful isn't it? I am gonna drag myself around all day now. Funny thing is some days I could sleep and sleep and sleep. I think naps should be an Olympic sport!

Bad phone call for me at 9 PM and that was the end of tiredness as I know it...rev, rev, rev-- ANXIETY! And since there is nothing that can convince me to take an improper dose of anxiety meds, when that didn't work I just wandered around the house and even when I did try to lay down the kittens attacked me LOL. What a night!

I know a lot of ADHDers that have sleep problems- myself included within this. What have you tried so far. many adhders can get help from over the over the counter hormone- Melatonin. It is cheap and non-habit forming. I know many people who have gotten help from this. I myself take a prescription sleeping pill, Ambien, but I dont like it, and I know my insomnia is caused on account of my ADHD. I also know that taking your meds 2 hours before you go to bed can help many ADHDers that cannot sleep at night- so I would recomend trying that before the melatonin- after talking to your doctor of course :) and if it is a chronic problem. Good luck getting to sleep, i feel ya!!

I use over the counter sleeping pills and Nyquil (helps me sleep like a baby!) although I wouldn't recommend the Nyquil, but it works for me. I've recently been perscribed Seroquel and that helps too but gives me horrible nightmares so I don't like to take it. I use Melatonin on occasion too and that really helps relax you and make you tired also. Good luck!

Valerian + theanine 30 minutes before going to bed. Relax for this 30 minutes outside of your bed (ex: read a book, watch the paint dry) in a low light environnement. Avoid computer. Go in your bed and try to sleep for 5 minutes and take some melatonin after those 5 minutes. A good way to "try to sleep" is to avoid focussing on an idea. Since it's impossible to think about nothing. I try to not stay on the same idea for more than 2 seconds. I change to another idea as far away from the first as possible but as soon I found it, I seek another one. Having sex helps a lot to sleep also.

and another vote for melatonin. since i started taking the 3mg melatonin mixed with vit. B6 about two weeks ago, everything has gotten better. i am used to chronic headaches, and since i started melatonin, i have NOT had one!! this is after at least 20 years of headaches. maybe it is because i have actually been getting quality sleep now. i never wake up groggy either, i love it. melatonin is very safe and non-habit forming. it may have other potential benefits as well. but for insomnia, it is great.

Thanks y'all for continuing this thread, I hope it helps someone else. I personally get no relief from melatonin but know many who do!
