Does anyone know a site where I can get some support/help on dealing with my psychosis... I don't have to fight with it day in and day out thanks to the medication, but I had a really rough incident on prom night where I forgot to take my meds and "the voice in my head" kept telling me to harm my fiance and showing me how I was supposed to do it... I know that I need help on dealing with this kind of incident...

Hi Adam;

I don't know of any website that can help with this, but I am sure there must be some out there. I just wanted to let you know that I am sorry you are going through such a rough time. You are in my thoughts. Hopefully you can find a wonderful forum (like this one:) ) that deals with psychosis where you can receive help and support.

All the best!

#1. Carry extra meds with you? (eg enough for an extra day's dosing)

#2. If you forget and get really sick (eg 'command hallucinations' ) --> you may want to Find out about any ACT Teams in your Area, and if you are Eligible for their services.

ACT teams will come right to your HOME up to 2-3x to give you your medications. (no, they won't come just to give us forgetful folks our Ritalin. *smile*)

I was a student on an ACT Team. (Assertive Community Treatment).

Some clients were on long-acting antipsychotic injections, such as Loxapine, which can last 2 weeks (maybe a bit less; like 10 days). It is injected into the buttock muscle.

I don't think Risperdal is available in a Long-Acting injection.

You really (really really) need to Talk To Your Doctor about this Issue of missing pills, and the possibility of long-acting meds.... I'd hate to see you relapse after stabilizing so well.
