Hello EVERYONE!!
I am new to the forum as well as new to taking ADDERALL XR. Instead of me, asking the same questions that have probably been asked already, I was wondering if there were, any posts that you knew of that would be good for a newbie like me to start off on? I have many questions and I am hoping to gain some insight into the world of ADD and stimulant medications.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Here is a little background info on me:

In hindsight, I believe I had ADD since I was little. I loved school but struggled with many of the different subjects. Math was hard for me, especially when you got into decimals and fractions and you had to remember to move this here or put that there. Interestingly enough I was an honor student in both high school and college but I always felt I could do better. I seemed to have to work EXTRA hard to get the results that I did and many times my teachers ALL felt I could do better. They would always mention potential and blah blah blah. Thing is I new it too but felt there was something that slowing me down and I could not put my finger on it. When I was little, I would always forget things (glasses, homework assignments, and chores). I never really grew out of that as an adult. I would forget to mail bill payments; it was hard to finish chores with someone around constantly reminding me. The first couple of jobs I had out of school were pretty easy and my idiosyncrasies did not really have an impact. However, I am noticing that the older and higher up in my career I get the more of a struggle it is becoming to be a productive worker. I recently had a work crisis a few months ago that drove to me finally see someone about ADD. I had suspected since college (psych class) but never really acted on it to be tested, I mean why should I? I am doing well (that is what I thought at the time). Anywhoo I am 28 recently diagnosed with ADD and have been taking Adderal XR 10mg for about two weeks now. I have noticed a slight difference. I am able to work/through and finish things better now. My mother says I sound calmer than before, I do feel calmer most times. I am experiencing some of the side effects others have, mainly dry mouth and insomnia. I do wonder though, how much of my symptoms are related to ADD and how much of my symptoms are related to Hypothyroidism. I was researching thyroid this week and see they have similar symptoms. Is possible to be ADD first and then develop hypothyroid disorder?

Anywhoo... enough about me....how about you guys?

welcome, bluelion!

It's great you've found the Adderall forum!

I don't take Adderall XR, I take the IR. My suggestion is to not take a dose any later in the day than what you have to, or you will not be able to sleep!!

Best wishes to you!

Courtney
