Recently I was looking at some old posts and came upon a thread dedicated to adderall tolerance and vitamin C. It got me thinking of some questions to ask the board. Does anybody here take a multivitamin in addition to their adderall? I find that taking one packet of emergen-C every morning helps me relax. In addition it takes the nervous edge of the caffeine and makes the buzz feel more 'calm' in the morning. I can't say much about it helping with adderall tolerance, since I only take 7.5 MG of IR (shire) a couple times a week in the afternoon, but I do know that taking an emergen-C and adderall have a similar calming effect on me (adderall being stronger). My guess is its the zinc, magnesium or vitamin B in the emergen-C that helps me mellow out. Have you guys had any success with taking a multivitamin and adderall?

I stopped taking my multivitamin in the morning. I used to take One-A-Day complete, B-12, B-50, and Omega-3's every morning with a biiiiiig glass of orange juice heh. I started reading, like you did, about Vitamin C. I also read that if you can just switch to taking the vitamins in the evening and they won't counter the Adderall. I stopped taking them totally just so I could get a good feel of what the medication did to me and be able to tell my doctor if I needed more or less. I've been on Adderall since the first week of April and I've pretty much evened out to 2 30mg XR's a day. So I will probably start taking my vitamins again at night.

Vitamin C does not, in and of itself, affect Adderall.

Eating or drinking acidic compounds right before or right after taking it can affect it, though. This is because Amphetamines absorb better in a basic environment and worse in an acidic environment.

Orange juice is bad because it is very acidic, due to citric acid. Vitamin C on its own is an acid, ascorbic acid, but I doubt that the amount in a vitamin would affect it, and as it is most vitamin pills also contain calcium caronate and other alkaline compounds that would cancel it out.

emergen-c
magnesium
one-a-day active
b complex
omega 3

ive now stopped taking the emergen-c, the multi, and the b complex in the am because i noticed that when i was taking the emergen-c and the multi, the good effects of the adderall were almost disappearing. I noticed a huge difference since then, and now i only take the magnesium and the omegas in the morning afternoon and evening, b complex in mid afternoon and they seem to have no effect. I may try a day without any supplements at all just to see if there is a difference. I have not really taken my multi much, but id like to start taking it again. its amazing how supplements affect this med, and also very frustrating!

Does anyone know if the carbonation in soft drinks has any affect on the function or absorption of Adderall? I take my Adderall with a Diet Coke almost every day.

I'm not exactly sure the pH of Diet Coke, or any other soft drink for that matter, but I would imagine they would do things similar to OJ. Remember the caffeine too.

sodas are very acidic, I would avoid taking Adderall with a diet coke.

That makes sense. I often feel like my multivitamin clouds the effectiveness of my medication.

Emergen-C is the bomb! I take it when I'm sick and it helps get rid of my illness/flu very quickly. Also helps even me out when coming down from adderall.
