I've been doing some in depth research on the effects of "brain entrainment" which is simpy about putting on a pair of headphones and listening to different sounds that alter the electrical activity of the brain.(I know, it sounds crazy and I'm kinda skeptical is why I'm on here asking you if you ever heard of any success with this). We have different brainwaves that our brain generates during different waking states such as(a brief rundown, there's a lot more for each pattern)
Beta(increased alertness, the time when your concentrating)
Alpha(relaxed, like reading a book or just relaxing)
Theta(the "dreamlike" state which is when we are dreaming)
Delta(deep sleep, trance like state).
In listenening to these Cd's, specifically targeted tones are used for a variety of conditions. Adhd in particular, is thought to be a result of a decrease in Beta wavve activity and an increase in theta, which is why hyperactivity is prevalent because the person is hyperactive just to stay awake(not too sure about this implication either but who the heck knows, lol:D ). Anyhow, beta wave sessions act much like a mental workout increasing electrical activity and blood flow to the brain, speeding it up, even promoting new dendrite growth(WOW, if this is true, that would be great!:p ) So, when you are listening to theses cd's, you are actually going into more of a relaxation mode(if meditation or destressing is one of the one's you choose) a lot quicker since these sounds are specifically targeted to promote the brainwave pattern you choose, in which they are all beneficial for different purposes. There's a lot more to read about this and the websites I encountered are
brainsync.com(downloadable versions and the one's I ordered was Brain power, High focus, Deep Learning, and Healing meditation)
centerpoint.com(the website is loaded with information but I believe these cd's are way too over priced and mercola will tell you that on his site, but it's very informative like I said:D )
And I ordered the insight and focus cd's which I haven't recived yet from mercola.com.
Please let me know what you think. Even though I seemed skeptical, I still ordered them cause what the heck, meditation IS good for relaxation AND there are many studies indicating those facts.
