im on 5mg ritalin 2day first timer ...what is the most people take ,i wanna take more cause its not really working, is there a strict limit is everyone different i see people take 80mg yikes can i add a few more..is it safe

It is never a good idea to take more than was prescribed by the doctor. It's also illegal to take more than is prescribed. This would be drug abuse, and is why stimulant medication is so closely monitored in the US. It's a type II controlled substance.

If you feel the lower dose is not effective, I suggest you contact the prescribing doctor and request a legal increase. You can also discuss with him/her about safety factors when taking stimulant medication.

You should always go by what the doctor tells you to take. I know it might not be working for you now but believe me I was the same starting ritalin, i wanted to take more but I stuck by the docs orders. You should not get into the habit of controlling your own dose, it leads to more problems.
