Ok, about an hour after I take my adderall XR, I have almost diarrhea-like bathroom visits several times in a row. :eek: Then, no problems for the rest of the day.

Anyone else having this problem, and any thoughts on how to fix/alleviate? What's going on?

An OTC anti-diarrhea medication like Immodium AD might help.

Eating more protein and cutting back on some fiber could too, I guess.

I had the same problem, but I drank milk at night and then went to bed, so it never really digested correctly, but my doctor said that the adderall just speeds up muscle movement so whatever is in there from right before you go to sleep, is going to come out (sorry to be gross). but now, because of the dry mouth, i drink several bottles of water a day, and i never have an irritable bowel.

I was actually worried about this the first time I took meds, since my gut is sensitive to caffeine, and stress, but thankfully, I had no issues. This could be your body reacting to the added anxiety that stimulants sometimes cause. If the symptom does not go away, you may want to try changing meds or fiddling with the dosage - maybe take it more gradually? With your doctor's OK, of course.

OMG I get that too!!! But it is ok though. My stomach isn't upset or anything. That's how I know my meds are kicking in in the mornings. I have that urge to go to the restroom. But It's just because your body is processing things much faster. Should be nothing to worry about if you keep drinking water everyday :) If it really starts to bother you, tell your doctor.
