I have a question. I drink coffee or tea in the morning depending then I take my ritalin. But days when I skip the caffeine fix in the morning my ritalin seems extremely weak almost like I didnt take it. Any experiences with people who use caffeine with ritalin? I find caffeine helps it work but too much caffeine with ritalin makes me too anxious to concentrate. There's just the right dosage I have to find of caffeine that makes it perfect.
A bit of advise for you, I find eating bananas while taking stimulants make the meds work so much more effectively. They are good for glucose?

Any info on caffeine + ritalin or similar or related experience would be great to hear. :)

i'm brand new to ritalin (well unless you count as a small child which I don't remember). I find I crave caffeine when it wears off and I normally drink decaf. i have been afraid to mix the ritalin and caffeine at the same time, because I get PVC's (heart palpitations) which caffeine makes worse. I wish someone else had responded to this with more experience / info ... maybe they will. i mean most people in the world seem quite caffeine-dependent.

Caffeine will definitely emphasize the effects of any other stimulants in your system, and it definitely makes sense that the Ritalin feels stronger when you have some caffeine as well.

Before I was taking any medications, I'd drink 8-10 cups of coffee per day. It helped, but didn't really do a whole lot. I could down a quadruple espresso and go to bed 2 hours later without any problems.

Then I started on Ritalin. I noticed that I didn't really care to drink more than 2-3 cups per day, and much more than that just made me nauseous and jittery.

I switched to Wellbutrin, and got the same effect. Any more than ~4 cups, and I'd just feel like crap.

Now I'm on both, and have no caffeine tolerance at all. One big cup of strong coffee will make me sick for the next 4-6 hours. I've been drinking coffee almost every day since I was 12, and for the first time in my life I had to start buying decaf!
