My doc is giving me a choice between adderal or ritalin.

I have been taking adderall for a long time. A combination of xr(in the am) and ir(in the pm).
I have not taking it for a bout 2 month, since i went to my parents (another state) and do not have doc in there.
What is the differences among these 2 meds..... please I need advise.

Do you feel like the Adderall isn't doing it's job anymore? Do you expect Ritalin to help you along better?
Or do you just want to switch it up?
Ritalin gave me jitters and spaced me out sometimes and so far Adderall XR has been fine, so I prefer Adderall for now. I think you'll find lots of opinions about one or the other and comparisons with yet other types of meds. They do have different actions and I think there are some good descriptions posted here as well plus your doc should be able to give you specifics as well.
Everyone is different so you may want to try ritalin just for a change.

Having tried Ritalin, it wouldn't be my first choice unless you get a long acting one like Concerta (which I like very much). The jerky ups and downs with Ritalin are kind of jarring.
