what would happen to someone if they took adderall and werent add? Is there a way to tell? also i was wondering if you can take drugs like adderall for the rest of your life without your tolerance completely making it useless, or is it not intended for long time use?

espplayer7,
The same thingy as someone without ADHD ... all their cognitive functions would improve. Except for those 20 to 25% of the population that do not respond to speed.
The tolerance thing is open to debate. I don't think most people develope a "tolerance" to Dexedrine. It is a damn freaking powerful stimulant. That being said, I know for a fact that everyone developes a tolerance for the init euphoria it produces. And, oh, how glorious that "buzz" is. So glorious that it is one of the most widely abused substances the Devil has created.
Now, if you are reasonably stable, and can find happiness in something other than "dope" that initial "buzz" should not be a problem for you. You get past it and then notice that you can focus without the buzz. You are on your way to recovery. Otherwise, you are on your way to addiction. Don't want to do that. Been there, done that, and DO NOT WANT TO DO AGAIN.

I take 30mg dexedrine in the am and 30mg in the afternoon. I do not get a "buzz" off of it at all. I do not feel a "euphoria" at all either. I really don't "feel" any big change or difference, I just "act" and "talk" and "think" differently. I'm just no longer so scatter brain, talkative, implusive, inconsiderate, bold, and most of all bulimic. My husband, on the other hand, wanted to try my meds to see if he were ADHD (my diagnosis - ADHD), and he acts and feels like he's on cocaine. Even 6 hours later, he is still grinding his teeth and talking like crazy and just so much energy that he cannot focus and do one thing, he had 6 things going at once and never finished a thing. I thought the whole thing was pretty funny. Then he slept the entire next day and said "Nope, I don't think I'm ADHD", and he said he would never take another dexedrine again.

hey,
im in rehab for alcohol and drugs but ive seen quite a bit of ppl in there for adderal, it is pretty addictive. its hard to tell if your gettin addicted becuz it doesnt appear to you. if your friends and family start gettin concerned about it then it might be a sign for you. but another thing is that ppl with add/adhd are prone to becomin addicts and what not. so its really tuff to tell if your becoming addicted. as long as u use the meds as prescribed you should be fine. i dont recomend staying on it for the rest of your life. this is another thing alot of add/adhd ppl dont understand about it. u could take the meds but you also have to learn to change your behaviors or it wont make too much of difference. but once you do get on sum meds just talk to the doc who gave u the script and he should explain everything to you. me personnaly im on concerta 18 mg and it does help just not as well as i would like it to but i just got back on it so i have to give it time and if it isnt workin as well then im gonna go back to the doc and see if he'll up it to 27
