bad .... lifelong, regardless of meds. even sleep meds don't seem to work anymore. have tried everything. you name it, ive tried it. and its not that (as my mother suggested) I just "don't need much sleep", because i get tired. i dont know what else to do. it takes me hours to fall asleep, and if im so lucky to fall asleep, i wake up at least every hour or 2, maybe 9 or 10x/ night on a good night.

Melv, I can definitely relate. I've been like this for years. I've taken everything from melatonin to Ambien and it just stops working after a while. I have finally scheduled a sleep study, but that's not until August.

If your insurance covers it, do the sleep study. It gives you quantitative measurements that can be used for a very confident diagnosis.

I can relate to that... alot of the time for me it takes two benedryl and a drink or two in order for me to be able to wind down and sleep.

Melv, that's the way I felt about the sleep study, but I figure what the heck, I'm gonna give it a shot. I would love to get just 5 hours of straight sleep. Have you been to a dr about your sleep issues? Do you think it's your ADD keeping you from sleep? Have you tried a sleep journal?

honestly, i dont think it has anything to do with ADD but I've never been a good sleeper. im not used to blaming anything on ADD especially since it hadn't really occurred to me to think about it (until very recently), since I was a kid in school 10+yrs ago. oh and the time i had trouble (they ended up booting me from my major) in a college course and my mom suggested i claim ADA and get my school records (I never did).

but i can remember being a really small child and having a terrible time falling asleep. its like i just think too much and cant stop. 5hrs would be a dream ;) for me.

I have real problems getting to sleep sometimes. It has been a problem for me for years. I also have sleep apnea. I never sleep more than an hour or two. I get little to no rem sleep unless I use melatonin and a cpap machine.

I found that if I take 3 mg melatonin, wait an hour and take another 3 mg, I'm ready to sleep very soon, every time.

Me :D

I've had problems since I was a kid too. My mother tells everyone I've never slept through the night. Guess what mom?!! I still don't! My latest thing is finally falling asleep around midnight, but for some reason I'm awake from 2 to about 5, it stinks!!! I'll let you know how the sleep study goes. I kinda hope they find something so I can correct it. :faint:
