My son has adhd and oppisitional disorder. In my research I have found many guidelines and books to help parents organize and strucutre their houses and lifes to better suit a family with a child who has adhd. He is not on any medication from the doctor yet but i feel very strongly that with or with out medication that you can change your enviornment and make an attempt to help with the stress. Has anyone else been able to filter through all the "100% proven ways" and found something that doesnt cost a fortune that may help?

Welcome to the forums, Bearkeeper!

If I were you I'd check out www.addwarehouse.com (http://www.addwarehouse.com/) or www.specialneeds.com (http://www.specialneeds.com/) and see what books they have on the subject. Anything by Samuel Goldstein or Russell Barkley is a good bet in my opinion. They are recognized leaders in this field. One book I really like is Taking Charge of ADHD by Barkley -- I've read this one and it is very helpful. Another couple that look interesting and applicable to your situation are Your Defiant Child by Barkley and Benton and Angry Children,Worried Parents by Goldstein, Brooks, and Weiss.. These guys are pretty direct in saying what works and what is a waste of your time and money.

One last book that is a great overall book for setting the right environment for any kid is Raising Resillient Children by Brooks and Goldstein. I'm currently reading this one and it is crammed with pearls of wisdom.

Take care!
