Lets discuss the hi heeled shoes, I think stiletto heels would be kicken, Bright Red, with black in there somewhere, guys don't have all the accessories that the gals have. Best we can do is have nice shoes, really nice shoes.

I don't wear stilettos, if I have heels higher than an inch or two, they are a little thicker than stilettos.

I do like the high heeled shoes with the pointy toes, with my foot shape, they are the most comfortable! :D

Yep, we guys get the short end of the stick when it comes to fashion, high fashion for us is the earthy look.

This thread reminds me of my first boss. His name was Doug and he was absolutley wonderful even though his wife was a total *****. Hadn't seen him in 9 years and one night I was at a gay club and amazed at how wonderful this drag queen could dance in these stiletto boots. I was a little drunk but all I could think of was this very tall queen falling and twisting and anckle but she didn't,,, she got down in those damn shoes like she was born in them. After the show she walked up to me and said,,,, "OMGGGG BRANDIEEEE how have you been it has been so longgg. I was like ok,,, who are you. Yep you guessed it,,, it was my first boss who was married to the *****. I had told my mom before I knew he was married back then that my boss and I would get along great cause he was gay,,,, course i thought i was the one who was confused when i met his wife. Told him 9 years later that it was him who was confused the whole time lmao. Good memory,,, I love Yvette Douglas (Doug)

I get arch cramps if I wear flats for too long, so I will occasionally wear something with a heel of about 3 inches to stretch my arch again. Sadly, my arthritic knees dislike the type that balance upon a small area (stilettos) so I tend to rely on funky-chunky platforms when that need arises.

Good thing I am a clearly identified hippy-chick :D and platforms look really great with my chosen mode of dress in general.

I always loved shoes - especially high heels. Made me taller than anyone plus it makes you walk more 'regal-like. It definitely improved my self image.
I had red alligator shoes that made me want to click my heels to go home...
I also remember wearing chunky platforms at Milwaukee fest a million years ago, I stepped on the edge of a hole and rolled my ankle. (who could feel anything during those times) I kept right on rolling that ankle all night long and it kept getting weaker and weaker.
At some point during the weeeee hours, it kinda blew up. I ended up wearing a cast for months. ruptured ankle capsules, etc...
Nooooo platforms for me, thanks. Heels, yes.

Heh...Kvrrd that just goes to show ya, we come in all types! It is when I wear non-platforms that my knees buckle and my ankles roll! I can and have RUN in platforms :D.

Of course I can also trip over carpetlint barefooted....

My husband and youngest son have shoe obsessions...the more the merrier. I tease the youngest for being Imelda.
Men have great fashion. The styles themselves are rather basic, but the cut and fabric make it. Ties and shirts, socks of every imaginable shade...
Belts, thin, thick, indian beaded stuff, sheesshhhh
Watches - my SO had a watch for every occassion and still gets ones with BIG numbers, driver's watches,
night vision, styliazed.
Caps.
Women have weird styles and sizes with junky material because lots of it looks disposable.

I was a penguin in a previous lifetime - mostly black, almost exclusively cotton. Impervious to my laundry skills.

Have you ever tried wearing a girdle, WT?

Same here. I teach and most everyday, I have heels on. I find now, that my feet are actually more comfortable in heels and bother me more in flats.

Plus, I'm so short, it makes me look like I have more "authority" (whatever that means) in my classes. But even w/ heels, 3/4 of my students are taller than me. Oh well.

Women's "fashion" is tricky business period, IMO. I have grown pretty stale in what I will even bother to try any more, since it has occurred to me that so much of it no longer suits my body at my age, and prefer to stick with what suits me body-wise and personality-wise.

Consequently I have less clothing than my man does. He's a hottie in his shorts ;) (to me anyway) but he has a totally different sense of style than I do and unlike me, he can walk into any store, choose something he likes in his identified size/preferred style and have great luck. Me, I gotta hunt then try on ...so annoying!

I am pretty sure we make an amusing sight, he in his khakis, Izods and Dockers, next to me in my palazzos, platforms and a nice floaty top that has a different pattern on each seperate piece of fabric that still blend nicely overall. He is much taller than I am so the shoe-heels make little difference.

Preppy meets Hippy, and danced in delight...opposites attracted magnetically...but he still has a much easier time shopping than I do. At least I do not frustrate his maleness by spending hours in a store trying everything on, I can pretty much scan the room, say "Nothing here for me" and walk out without strife.

Of course I have to do my own laundry a lot...or run out of clothing....sigh!

No, alas no girdles, though many years ago I did go out for halloween dressed as a woman with net stockings and hi heels and a mini skirt, I got alot of attention, I was a very slim guy, LOL.

Why is it that some gals can walk so graceful in HI Heels
and others look as if it were there first time walking, period.

It takes practice! Some people are gifted at it, and others are not. Practice can take some not-so-gifted high-heels walkers and make them better, but others can practice for years and not get it. Kinda like anything that takes physical skill...

Girdles aren't too bad, if you get one that fits right and don't try to wear it too long. They can keep you from slumping, too!

LOL LOL...We don't have Halloween here, so I can't imagine what you were talking about WT..
I used to wear high heel when I was younger!! Now I prefer the flat comfy ones..not a good look, but I like them! I have really big wide feet, so I like mens shoes.. hehehe
My poor kids get horrified when we are in shoe shops..I am always picking up, and sighing over mens shoes..:D

Hey everyone! I was somewhat suprised to read the responses in this thread, after I did a search for heels (totally random!). I have NEVER been able to walk in anything other than flip flops or running shoes, I am so accident prone and seem to bust my a*s anytime i wear heels. I'm pretty shocked that so many ADDers aren't in my boat! I must say that I am very envious! I am always buying nice shoes that i soon find that i cant walk in! I have a reeeeally high arch, so I feel better in super high heeled shoes. just two days ago I was walking in a new pair of 4 inch heels... thinking that i should attempt to walk a little slower ( i walk faster than anyone i know), right then, i fell over and busted it! I hit the pavement so hard that I made holes in both knees of my pants, and came seriously close to breaking my nose! i need some tips for wearing heels without falling on my face! help! =)

I don't mind heels but I don't wear them because I'm already so tall. I don't really like towering over everyone unless I'm with my husband who is 6'6".
