Sorry for the cross-post, thought maybe I'd get replies in this forum:

So, my 5.5 year-old had the sleep study and it looks like he's got periodic limb movement disorder just like me...boring but annoying neuro thing where I (and apparently he) kick so many times each hour that sleep is horridly disrupted and non-restorative without nightime meds. Yikes. Poor guy. We have a follow-up appointment scheduled with the sleep doc and the ADHD doc ...anybody else dealing with kids with both a sleep disorder and ADHD?

I have a little girl whom will be 9 years old in August, she has ADHD combined type and Sleep disorders as well. Not fun sometimes but I will fight til the end to get her the right treatment. Is your son on any meds for this disorder? What have you tried?A good one for me to try was lavendar baths for her and the spray for the room.It only worked for a short time but I did use that method when it did work with meds that is but meds is not for all of us.

I wish you all the luck and hope i can help you.

He is on the Catapres patch for ADHD and melatonin to help him sleep at night. We haven't yet had the follow-up appointment with the sleep doc. Requip is used in adults (like me) who have PLM but the disorder isn't so common in kids..Thanks for your reply.

I don't know if I had a sleeping disorder when I was a child or not, I was never tested, but, my mom always said I would kick a lot when I slept and sleep in a very 'anxious' way. Also, my whole life I have had a heck of a time falling asleep at night. A naturpath (sorry if I spelled that wrong) told my mom to give me catnip tea. I know it sounds strange, but it WORKED. I started drinking it about half an hour before bedtime and I would sleep through the night just great. I still use it or Sleepytime tea by Celestial Seasons when I am feeling restless in the evening.
