View Full Version : Anybody wanna see my advocacy posts at my old couponing boards? Crazy~Feet 07-09-06, 12:16 PM :D Getting good responses too! chloe516 07-09-06, 12:17 PM hehehe, great job, Paine! I was expecting a link though... :eyebrow: Crazy~Feet 07-09-06, 12:20 PM I can give a link if you want one, but a c/p is pretty cool too :D here ya go: Hey y'all, its me again, KZ is back with a mission :D. I am sticking this in Everyday Life and hoping it makes it over to families.com. My 10 year old daughter was diagnosed with ADHD primarily Inattentive type earlier this year, and shortly thereafter I was diagnosed myself. Since then I have become very outspoken and involved in advocacy and awareness regarding people who are considered "Neuro-Different". I have the unique position of having grown up in a time when such things were at best misunderstood and at worst considered tragically flawed, mentally unbalanced or morally corrupt. "Neuro-Different" people may be diagnosed with ADHD, Asperger's Syndrome or Autism, or learning disabilities like dyslexia, and may have co-morbid conditions like depression or anxiety that can confuse the issue even further. Its not easy to get accurate information about these differences in processing, nor is it easy to live with them or somebody who has them. I understand ;). It is my desire to spread the word, to get accurate and current information out, and to assist others like me. I know I have a lot to offer and I believe that as an adult diagnosed ADHD I have a perspective that can truly make a change in society! I know that "trying harder" did not help, I know that when I answered "I don't know" I really and truly did not know...but now I know, and most Neuro-differences are heritable and persist into adulthood, which means that inevitably there will be more and more of us. "The wheel of change grinds slowly, but it grinds exceedingly fine." I intend to become part of the solution, and help to turn that wheel so that no person anywhere has to be ashamed, ridiculed or alone simply because they were born Neuro-different. We do not process information in the same manner as a Neuro-Typical person does, but we are not ill, nor are we broken. There is room on this Earth for all of us and hope that we can all understand one another. Let me be a part of that hope, if I can be. Ask me anything and I will do my best to answer. If anyone is interested I can offer links for online screening, some links for the Neuro-Typical to try to get a "feel" for what we experience, and of course I have my story to tell. Ask away! This has always been an intelligent and savvy group here, and I hope you will all join me in my mission. Sincerely, KZ (one who knows much) <!-- / message --><!-- sig --> __________________ chloe516 07-09-06, 12:27 PM Sounds great! Crazy~Feet 07-09-06, 04:56 PM Thanks Liz.
