well...i guess this is my first day on meds. i have been prescribed dexamphetamine sulfate 5 mg tablets, seeing though i live in Australia my doctor hadn't heard of adderal which i thought was quite strange after everything i had read about it. i didn't get my prescription untill about 2:30 PM and by the time i got to the chemist it was around 4:00 PM and after 15 mins of trying to figure out of to open the child proof bottle, i took half a tablet making that 2.5 mg of dex, so far it has slightly improved my concentration and i seem to be able to think before i talk it appears to be quite strange, though i can feel what it is supposed to being doing it doesn't seem to have enough kick to get it going. my doctor has incouraged me to increase my dosage gradually day by day. by doing this hopefully things will start to look better for me.

i am 24 and have just been diagnosed with add, which is quite a relief to know that i not a complete idiot, always having big dreams and hopes and never completing any of them got to much and started to destroy my very existence. The chance to finally be able to move on with life like a normal person gives me great hope.

so i don't know how these new meds are going to go, but i will keep you posted.

blessings

Welcome Nicholas!

I'm also on Dex, and I really know what you mean about the adult-proof bottles!

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about anything. I'd be happy to help.

Cheers

Chris

Welcome aboard, Nicholas.

Meds are effective for the great majority of ADHD people who end up taking them as prescribed.

You describe positive effects, but a lack of kick. That is likely to improve as you increase the dosage. Remember that it takes several adjustments from your doc to get it to work for YOU.

Please visit our forum on dextroamphetamine.

Best wishes,
Snappy

Good luck with your medication. I'm glad you were able to find help. I think most of us that weren't diagnosed until we were adults understand that relief to finally feeling like you might have some normalcy in your life. I think you will be amazed at the difference medication can make.
Enjoy your new start:)

Animal (I'm referring to your name on this forum),

Dexedrine is a brand name for dextroamphetaimne. Amphetamine (like in Adderall) includes the "levo" (left) and the "dextro" (right) components. I don't know if you call dexamphetamine what we call dextroamphetamine, but it should be the same thing.

Welcome Nicolas,

I finally got it. Upside Down Land isn't the same as inside my brain. It's Australia.
But what if you're a dude fixing the space station and your head is toward the south pole, feet going north? Then I'm upside down. That is more like it. I couldn't get use to being right side up after all these years :D

haha it's really fun being on here with people who think in the same abstract way. I'm sure non-add people would say we're talking in riddles sometimes, but it's all making sense to me!! :D
