I just started on concerta yesterday I had taken ritalin when i was younger, tried strattera for 2 years, then adderall xr for 2 months, and ritalin the past month. The ritalin was kind of just a 3 hour pill for me that seemed to work okay, not excellent but not horrible. SO i suggested to my doctor that I Try concerta which i started yesterday.

Yesterday was the first dose of concerta and i didn't really notice much of a change except for excess thirst and urination (Obviously because i was drinking more). Now I'm just wondering if this goes away with time or what? Because its such a pain to have to go to the bathroom every 2 hours when your at work. I also had somewhat of a headache today. It wasn't a throbbing headache that was so bad taht I couldn't concentrate but it was enough to bother me a little bit and I knew it was there. Does this side effect go away with time? I also feel nauseated but I don't know if thats from concerta or because its my time of the month.

I read on here about concerta causing acne? Did this happen to anyone? I really hope it doesn't happen to me because I'm prone to break outs and any med that makes me break out more I"m not going to be taking.

On the positive side... this med seems to be working great! I can concentrate and focus on what I am doing all day. It doesn't seem to have high and low points like ritalin and adderall did. I do feel hyperfocused at times but I'm sure thats normal.

Thanks for all your help!

Pretty much all my initial side effects from Concerta (sleepiness, mild headaches, stomach upset) cleared up after a few days or weeks. I had some aggressive feelings especially as the meds wore off that took longer to adjust too, but those eventually worked out too. I've really loved Concerta -- I take it twice a day and it's been a very good thing for me. I started on it about a year and a half ago now.

Did you eat anything today? The only time I get the headache and nausea is when I don't eat well, and it's so easy to forget if you get the side effect of not getting hungry.
These generally subside in a few weeks though if they aren't from not eating.

I have had the acne problem, but, I am almost finishing up my second month on this medication and I've noticed over the past few weeks that it is finally starting to go away. So I also think this is probably temporary. I also do not drink water (still can't get over my caffeine addiction), so I'm sure that does not help at all either.

I'm glad you like the medication :). It's always nice to find something that works well. I love it too!

Well I ate a poptart this morning at 530 and I took the medication at 630. I started to get the headaches around 10. I don't have a lunch break at work until 1230 so there really isn't much I can do about the not eating thing. I did notice that after I finished eating I didn't have the headache anymore. Maybe I can find something little to snack on or something.

I'm just praying I don't get the acne! I've been goign through some acne problems the past year with being stressed with nursing school and work and now my face is finally clearing up. **Knock On Wood**!!!!
