Please look at this article if you are having problems with your meds. If you are taking SSRI anti-depressants and trazadone and methylphenidate, this syndrome is a possible side effect.

I stumbled on the drug interaction info on the Blue Cross/Blue Shield member services site. The syndrome can range from mild to fatal.

I cannot believe how much better I am feeling and functioning since gradually decreasing and ending my Zoloft prescription(under Dr. supervision).

I now feel happy, my muscles are relaxed, I am not having panic attacks, and my mood is much better. I also have more energy, sleep better, and wake up refreshed. The doc almost diagnosed me with Bipolar II. My gut reaction was that it is not what is happening.

I have been having these problems since taking any SSRI and trazodone together and they got worse in the 2 years I have been taking Concerta and Ritalin. In fact, the symptoms were dose related; the higher my dosage of ADD meds, the worse my symptoms.

I am now compiling a notebook of my research and becoming even proactive in my medical care.

And I just thought I could not handle things and might be going crazy.

Hope this information helps someone,
Becky My brain is all thought out right now.

I was taking Paxil for depression and
got the idea to try a low dose
of moclobemide with it(Do not do
that!). Anyway I got very happy at
first, then little like I was drunk, then
confused alittle. Followed by a
constricting feeling in my throat. I
was fearfull that I might not beable
to breath at any moment. Lucky I
was okay. Needless to say I did
not do it again.

Everyday, in every way, I am getting better and better.:D

I cannot believe the difference in how I feel since weaning from the Zoloft. I have an appt with a new doc next week. She is also a forensic psychiatrist, should be interesting. It is at a teaching hospital in St. Louis.

Every time my dosage of Zoloft, Concerta, or Ritalin was increased, I got worse. The problems included:

Panic attacks-none since weaning, I have not taken any Xanax for 10 days-was on 5mg 3x day or as needed. During school I needed.
Extreme muscle tension and tightness
Increased mental confusion
Muscle weakness
Dizziness
Irritability
General feeling of being unwell
Emotional flatline
Inability to motivate self to do anything
Since weaning I have been unpacking and organizing my classroom stuff, painting several pieces of furniture, cutting fabric for drapes, and other things. No, I am not manic, I am off for the summer and can spend time doing these things now. Plus I really enjoy decorating my house-it is an occupational hazard too.

The difference is hard to believe. My dry skin has improved too, but I have no explanation. My family and friends can see a difference too.

My current meds are:

Concerta-54mg
Ritalin-10mg 3x/day
Trazodone-50mg pm
Estrogen patch
Aleve-for muscle pain

SSRI's and strattera and effexor also in that note have always made me develop manic symptoms and they are the worse possible drugs for me... that is for me though I have seen them work wonders on some people but I don't have bipolar disorder and had them prescribed for a situational issue so they may be factors in my response
