Hey, my name is David and i am 29 years old. I have been diagnosed with ADHD 4 months ago. I was on concerta 18 mg but I didn't feel like it helped me, then doc increased to 27 mg and things got a little better ( concentration wise) but it's been a month since i feel that my concentration is getting worse. I asked the doc if i could increase it but she told me that I am not a kid and that this is psychotropic ...i am very frustated.

I personally take 81mgs of Concerta a day, age 40 (what's the age got to do with it, I wonder?) and nothing less will do.

Hi David,
I was also dx'd at age 29 and was started on 27 mg Concerta. After telling my doc that although I did see/feel some changes, the low dose wasn't doing enough, so he put me on 54 mg and it has worked wonders! Please don't let this doc frustrate you. Maybe it would be wise to possibly switch to another doc?
Good luck!

I am 52 year old-an adult. And methylphenidate ain't no stinkin' psychotropic... Look it up online-search for psychotropics. It ain't there. (Sorry, I had to do my Dirty Harry.)
This is what works for me:
Concerta 54mg in the AM
plus
10mg Ritalin 3x a day
I teach school and need to stay focused many evenings to grade or plan. The Concerta alone last 12 hours and I would be exhausted and unable to focus-and got behind on the grading. If I forget to take any of my does I can really tell. Especially on high stress days. -most days for a teacher-at least a new one. Try teaching when you can't focus. The kids love it!
I take the last dose of Ritalin no later than 6 hours before my bedtime so I am able to sleep.
Don't take those crappy insults. As a woman I have had too many docs tell me it is all in my head. I joke that the next time a male doc tells me that I will render pain somewhere special and then tell him it is all in his head. Hey the brain is where we receive pain messages:D .

i teach English as second language here in NYC. I am going to talk to my doctor about the concerta increase. I am also on 150 mg Wellbutrin. Does anybody any good experiences with this combo?...

I have been on concerta about 4 weeks. 2 weeks @ 27mg and 2 weeks @ 54mg. I think it could be used as a sleeping pill. I am trying to get my md to add wellbutrin to the mix. So far for me Concerta does nothing. Wish I knew what to tell you to try, I would try it myself.
