How can you counteract the Tic Problem when taking a stimulant, especially if the simulant is working... :confused:

Many aspies have tourette syndrome.
I think ADHD meds make tourette
worst. I do not know anything other than that.

They have medicines that help counter out that twitch, but the side effect profile sometimes looks worse than the original problem IMO, but I'm no expert -- probably a better question for a psychiatrist.


Take care -- I have twitches made worse by my medication too -- it's the pits -- especially when the meds are working well.

My pdoc suggested Catapres .5mg or Klonopin .5mg but they make me tired and yawnny thoughout the day that I don't want to take them...

Guanfacine (Tenex) and clonidine (catapres) can be given to help with tics. They have effect on some ADHD symptoms as well. The sedative effects may settle down with time. The guanfacine is less sedating (calms my daughter but does not make her sleepy) then the clonidine.

Can't take tenex though cuz I got a rash when I took it.
