Is it okay to drink while on adhd meds? :eyebrow: I forgot to ask before I left...LOL

I dont mean a whole lot and not every day, I mean maybe 2 - 3 drinks a few days a week at the most ....

For your health and safety, this is the best answer I can give you; It depends on which medication/s you take, how much you take, how much you drink, any history of substance abuse, and so on. Only a Dr. can give you the final answer. Read the info about your meds on either of these sites.

For me to tell you it's ok to drink or not drink borders on medical advice. There is a fine line between friendly advice and practicing medicine sometimes. I don't feel comfortable giving you any other answer than to get educated about your meds, talk to your doctor/s, and make wise, educated decisions about your alcohol consumption.

You are on the right track by asking questions, being informed, and not making impulsive decisions. I would suggest you wait on drinking any alcohol even if the doc says OK until you find the meds and dosages that work best for you. That way you won't wonder, is it me, the meds, or that beer I just had.

Thank you so much....I think I am going to have one beer with my mom this wed but besides that I wont have any till I go back to the dr in two weeks...

well, I won't tell you what to do, but I can tell you what I do. I take 20mg's of adderall XR once a day in the morning. That dose is enough to last me about 7 hours and get me through my day at work. By the time evening comes, the dose is out of my system and if I want to go out that evening, I have no problem with drinking around 8 drinks. But when I'm on adderall (when I take in the morning) I tend to not want to drink as much as when I'm not on it, so usually it amounts to like 4 drinks. I know a lot of people take an afternoon dose once their morning dose wears out, and in this case you'd have to be more careful. Once you get used to the medication and have been taking it for some time, you will become aware as to when its effects are wearing off, and by this you can judge whether you can drink and how much. Basically listen to your body. I have heard that Ritalin is harder on the liver then the amphetamines (adderall/dexedrine) so if you're on something like concerta talk to your doc about it.

He said a glass size like you get in a restaurant is OK, and I take dex 10mg x 3 daily.

LOL you are silly.... have you ever had red bull, oh my GOSH, I have had it before and it makes me the oposite of drunk, does that make sense, LOL I think I will pass on the shot of tequilla, I will stick with my oj and green tea, LOL :D:D:D

Funny thing, I can walk a straight line perfectly after 2 regular drinks. Sober gets laughs.

So my question is; If I ever get stopped by the police when I am sober, will I be able to pass the test? Touch my nose w/eyes closed, walk the line, say the alpha backwards. Do they give tickets for driving under the influence of ADD? DWA

When I am having a tough ADHD day-an energy drink can really help. I like a combo of Rooster Booster, Mountain Dew, and black tea that I can create at at Quick Trip, chain of gas stations. Helped me survive my middle school classes. :eek: I also like Monster. I do like Bawls and Red Bull too. I buy by price. Did you read the consumer warning on the cans? You are not supposed to drink more than 3 a day.

I usually only have 1 drink-2 at most and I never drive. Special occasions like anniversary or B-day I might have a little more. I choose something I really like and enjoy it sssslllloooowwwwlllllyyyyyy.

I talked to my doctor and he said that I am allowed to have two drinks with caffine daily and one drink with alcohol in it daily.... I am not going to drink at all till my body gets used to the meds. ;)
