View Full Version : Ummm, i just got my prescription filled for ritalin and the bottle says methylyn? ditzygirl 07-26-06, 06:24 PM What is this?? VisualImagery 07-26-06, 06:41 PM DitzyG Your doctor gave the pharmacist permission to fill your scrip with a generic form. It is much cheaper than the name brand and works exactly the same. Your insurance company may have a formulary list, a list of drugs they will cover the cost of after your co-pay. If you choose a drug not on the list, you will pay a much higher co-pay. Be assured, you have the correct prescription. Checking your meds is always wise, mistakes can happern. Methylyn and methylphenidate are generic forms of ritalin. RADD. lars 07-26-06, 07:03 PM Methylin is a what is commonly known as a "brand name generic." There are actually several drugs on the market in addition to Ritalin that have a brand name generic. For example with the brand name drug Dexedrine there is a brand name generic called Dextrostat. The brand named generic drugs are less expensive than the original brand name drugs, but are more expensive than the basic generic drugs. ditzygirl 07-26-06, 10:04 PM Thanks for the help!:) |
