Okay, I've tried both, Strattera and Adderall. Both seem to have had different ways they affected me. I'm still taking Strattera, 80 mg a day, and I like that it just "smooths" things out for me during the day. I had tried Adderall and it helped, but the rebound was too much. I was wondering if anyone has taken both at the same time and if it worked for them? Each had a benefit for me and I was thinking maybe 10 mg of Adderall a day with the Strattera may help.

Yes I have tried both. I was on Strattera for 2 years, and was also taking effexor to counteract the insomnia effect that STrattera was giving me. Well after 2 years when I was in my second semester of nursing school, i NOticed that my instructor was telling me all of the things I do that are ADD related on my evaluations. I realized taht this med was not working for me anymore. I could have tried to up my dose but I just wanted to try a stimulant and see how taht work. When I was on strattera I was still restless and impatient, and could not control my impulses. I have the credit card bills piled up now to prove it! I can't remember what exactly the mg of Strattera I was on, I believe 60 maybe?

SO I went to my doctor and talked to him and he said he could up my dose or try a stimulant and I decided to try a stimulant. So then he put my on adderall 20 mg xr 2 times a day. That worked pretty good but then after a month or so it just stopped working for me. I'm not really sure if it stopped working or if I just became used to it. I'm sure I Could have benefited from a "holiday" so to speak but I just opted to try Ritalin.
I think you can take strattera and adderall together.. i'm pretty sure theres people here who take that combination.

You said your adderall rebound was too much... but what dosage were you on? Sometimes if you tell your doctor about taht they can adjust your dosage so the comedown won't be as bad. Just a suggestion. Adderall and S trattera affect people differently What are the postives and negatives about Strattera, and for adderall?

I honestly can't even tell if Strattera is working for me. I originally thought it "smoothed" things over, but I'm finding myself more irritable and more emotional. I was on 20 mg of Adderall and the rebound was just too much, the channel switching became absolutely unbearable once Adderall started to wear off. Ever since then I've been very hesitant to try another medication, particularly a stimulant, because the Adderall pretty much freaked me out. Could it be I wasn't on enough?
