A fun run, but tough! The grass was cut long for drought resistance and the going was tough! It must have been 5 or 6 inches long and no beaten path to ease the slogging.
I finished in 24:15, but was right dopey from the effort. I knew to run this at between 95% and 97% of my maximum heart rate. My HRM registered an average heart rate for the race of over 97% so I gather I didn't have much more to offer this one! :D
If I can continue to recover well, I'll run my second 5km race on the 20th of August, then if all goes well a 10km near the end of September. Yum.
Group at the start A really small group, but with some very fast runners

Off to the races! Mike Booth out front. He's won the Manitoba Marathon the last couple of years. He runs an excellent on line coaching service I'm flirting with at Endurance Matters (http://www.endurancematters.com/aboutus.php).
