Last night my six year old son told me "it feels like my bones are moving" and he has not control over it. I might add this was at 11:30pm, which is a normal for him. We try to get him in bed by 9:30 during the summer, but he usually doesn't fall asleep until close to 11:30pm. He is wide awake, no matter how busy he was during the day.

I told him to try and think about something he wants to do or some place he wants to go and this may help him fall asleep. He said he tries, but he can't because something else will just pop into his brain. He also told me he "has no control of his brain".

I would also like to add that he is constantly on the move and climbs all over everyone and everything. To the point that it is extremely annoying.

Has anyone else heard ADHD described this way? Especially, from a child.

Are we just waiting for the "inevitable"? :D

My son has not said his bones are moving, but he has used many other metaphors to discribe what you are saying. Some were very unusual. So I guess I understand what you mean. He has talked about not being able to control his body, and his thoughts, too.

He, too, would lay awake for hours after we put him to bed and not sleep. Now on medication he falls asleep better. I guess his mind was just too active before.

His energy was also incredible. He did not wear out after very active days either. Now he is approaching 13 and he has less energy and I worry about him being tired. Just posted about that.

I wonder if I will ever stop worrying about this child.

Your son's comment about his brain not belonging to him sounds just like something my kid would say...she's loaded with ADD. Is that helpful? ;)

Crazy

Before my little girl was diagnosed with ADHD,she did this same thing and said somewhat the same things. My daughters doctor told me that a lot of it was she really felt as if she was going soooooooooo fast that she could not stop moving.Too some this may not make any sense but this is what i was told.

My suggestion is too make a appointment and get him into the doctors if you have not already.

I did many things with my little girl too try to help her relax before I finally gave in and let the doctor put her on medications.
I can tell you a few things too try and i hope that they help you out.

*a lavendar bath and even a lavendar spray from bath and body for the room where your son sleeps.
*about a hour before bedtime, dim the lights and have quiet time.
*read a few books with him

If you would like anymore ideas i have lots of them. Please feel free to PM me anytime.
