My son will be 13 next month. In April we upped his dose of Metadate from 20 to 30mg. It seemed to be fine. During the summer is it hard to gauge sometimes without the pressures of school and homework, I am not sure how the new dose will affect focus.

But he does not exhibit the "different" hyper behaviors that he has without meds, so we are guessing it is working.

However, the last few months, he seems to lost some of his pep. He needed to lose some of it, but now he complains about feeling tired two or three times a week generally around 3:00 or 4:00p. Not overwhelmingly so, but I am concerned if this is a side affect of the medicine.

He is approaching the teen years, and I wonder if it could be hormones instead.

Anyone have problems with being tired on Metadate? And would increasing from 20 to 30 mg bring about tiredness?

When I was 13 I told my doctor I was
tired all the time. He said "get more
sleep" I got a thyroid test (in 1983)
but it came back fine. At 23 in 1993
I was super depressed and another
(good) doctor ask did I have family
history of thyroid problems(I did)
and said the test has only been good the last 3 years. So I took
it and yes I had hypothyroidism.
So yes it could be hormones.
