Odd question with a bit of explination needed.

My meds are working great and I know that the next best thing to help with what difficulties I still have is exercise. Since we're done moving and the unpacking is mostly finished, I've been able to start doing it regularly again. (Or trying at least) Problem is that it feels like once a day isn't enough. Like I need to workout both in the morning and the evening. Don't ask me why, this is just what my body is asking for. Has this happened to anyone else?

And any tips for actually getting the motivation up to do it? Especially since I'm in Floriday now and it hot and sticky outside. (Working out at home doesn't work for me cause I distract myself with housework and the complex pool is too small for laps)

I had been walking years but my
blood pressure was high so I started
running (last 2 week) good news my blood pressure is normal. Bad news
my knees hurt so bad i can now barely walk(I over did it!) I'm going
to try biking next. I did a test run and it produces no pain on my knees but it was hard to get my heartrate up . I did some yard work
digging dirt that will get your heart up!

A good way I've found to motivate me to do aerobics (ie walking or running....sometimes a tape if it is too hot outside) --- I tell myself, 'Anne, you only have to do 20 minutes....in just 20 minutes your head will feel clearer.' It actually takes more like 30 mins to have my brain feel "clean" but if I tell myself the above (and really remind myself of the relief I'll feel afterwards) I can get myself moving.

Also, I really think my body (head) would love 2xs a day......I haven't figured out yet how to get myself to do that!

Exactly. I wish I had a partner to come and drag me out of bed or something. Think it could be done over the internet?

That's it...I can't do 2 times a day because it is sooo incredibly hard getting out of bed in the morning and I think morning is really a great time for exercise because iot starts the day off right. I swear, practically every night I set my clock for 5:45am >>>>the plan is:

- get up, have a cup of coffee (to wake up)
- chill out for like 15 mins
- change into workout gear
- go run/walk when husband gets back from gym (6:30am)
- be back by 7:30 and get ready for work/kids for camp til 8:50

What a great plan!!

I need a way to figure out how to get up!!

Any degree of success is a good motivator for me. I need always to begin with a step forward that I can complete. I often miss the mark and bite off more than I can chew.

It takes about 12 weeks to establish a habit. I started much slower than what I was capable of doing. Two years later I'm still at it.
Slow and steady.

Ian --

Do you run in the morning? And if so, did it really take 12 wks to get it down?

I think if I knew that after 12 wks of pure torture of pulling myself out of that wonderfully delicious bed in the morning would lead to a pretty firm habit I might be able to do it.

Everythings gotta be a game w/me.

In the summer I ussually do twice daily workouts in order to get my required weekly distance. I cycle 50km morning and 30ish km in the evening. In the winter, I've been cross country skiing for 2 or 3 hours and come home to cycle for an hour on my trainer (it's a stand that holds your bike so you can ride indoors). I did that today, it felt great. I find I ussally start to pay for it after a month or so of twice daily workouts. The body needs rest too...

As for motivation, my wife is equally active (triathlete) so we urge eachother. Sometimes, I think it's a competition... hehe:rolleyes:
