Sorry if this is covered already somewhere but I'm new to here. I just got switched to Dexedrine spanules as the Ritalin was making my tics worse and giving me a anxious jittery feeling all the time. So far I'm liking the dex allot better, it actually seems to help my anxiety. Only thing I'm wondering is how long the spanules usually last for? I've had bad experiences with the Ritalin SR, only lasted 4 or 5 hours. Also does taking a larger dose of the spanules in the morning make it last any longer?

To answer your last question first: yes, the dosage will dictate the time period in which effects are felt.

I haven’t taken dex time release (spanules) in a while but I remember it lasting a decent time (6 - 9 hours).

Everything in the biochemical world is relative to the individual however...

Communication between you and your doc should dictate the required dosage through trail and error, the same way you decided Ritalin was not right for you.

I only get 5 hours with the wavy little things but I also take immediate release dexedrine and level out the inconsistency involved with it

I'm taking the brand name as thats the only extended release one available in Canada. But even so it's pretty cheap for brand name. The pill itself is interesting, it looks like a capsule with tiny little beads inside.

I have only just discovered the slow realease capsules :-) They are expensive here, so camparing $50 per month to $4.70 a month, will make my decision..I will take the quick acting for now :-) Although I'd kill for a 24 hour dose :-)

"The 1940's formulated pill itself is interesting, it looks like a capsule with tiny little beads inside.-it took 7 years to create" and is a nice looking pill:)

I'm finding it last most of the day, and the nice thing about dexedrine is when it does wear off I dont get that horrible crash like from Ritalin. I was taking Ritalin SR and every time after about six hours I would suddenly feel like garbage and start crying sometimes for no reason. Now I just feel a bit tired thats it :) and I dont feel anywhere near as nervous and jittery on it, though it does supress my apeteite more which worries me a bit as I'm already skinny. But I dont see why they dont use Dex for everyone, it's so much better plain and simple.

Great timing for this post. I just switched to barr 15 mg Dex LA (2 per day). Tomorrow is my first day on an extended release ADHD med. I have been on IR gen. amph. salts for about 4 months. It's made a huge difference in my life, so I am excited/nervous about starting this new ER..(especially with the results regarding anxiety which is a nightmare) My psychiatrist stated several times "I have to give you this first..then if it doesn't work, I can put you on the brand-name Adderall XR..just let me know..lots of people don't like it." Not sure why. Anyone have a preference between the two?

Thanks for all the feedback from the first post. It's really helpful.
