Crazy~Feet 08-19-06, 06:29 AM I am thinking perhaps Lars will be able to help you with this lovers :).
Crazy
My friend (63yo) has been taking Amphetamines-es methamphetamine, since 1958 (Narcolepsy) 5, 15mg Desoxyn SR tabs~2000, since then 4, 5mg tabs 4x daily.
When he stops-he sleeps and sleeps, no depression, only sleep-weird.
I have not been taking Dexedrine for 10 years, but I have been taking it for over 8 years. I have taken a break many times. I do not suffer any withdrawl or any of the problems one would expect with taking amphetamine for an extended period of time.
~boots~ 08-19-06, 11:38 AM I have only taken it for a short time,(10 months or so) and I can stop and start with no probs :-)

Bugs-n-Bunnys 08-20-06, 10:42 PM I haven't been taking it for very long, only 3 months and now I had to stop. Doctor too expensive, I'm trying to find one that is on my insurance plan, but none of them like dexedrine and think it's only for druggies. Anyways, my side effects from stopping have been, sleeping and sitting around like a bump on a log. Not doing a damn thing, not caring, not nothing. Which is kinda bad because I start my new job tomorrow. my latest doctor gave me adderral but it has done absolutely nothing. I even took 4 at once (30mg each) and still nothing, absolutely nothing. This is sad because I lost my last job because of ADHD.
Matt S. 08-21-06, 11:06 AM I get all loud and hyperactive for 2 days (stopped it as a kid after 7 years) and then I sort of stay hyper until I go back on it
Hyperion 08-21-06, 08:46 PM I have been taking it for about 2 years or so, and have taken it 'round the clock for the past several months (it helps me sleep at night). I recently had to stop taking it because of surgery (there was concern that it might have interfered with the anaesthesia). I felt no "withdrawal" if that's what you're asking, but I was definitely more scatterbrained. I could literally feel the number of steps ahead that I could think and process drop down bit by bit as it wore off. It was definitely difficult to pay attention to the doc as he was giving me post-op instructions. Of course, this wasn't much different than before I started taking it. I certainly didn't feel, look, or act like I was going through any kind of withdrawal. It was irritating as hell to go back to the way I was, though, and I was quite happy to take my next dose when the time rolled around.
So yeah, no withdrawal or anything, just loss of the benefits of taking it and a return to the state I was in before I started taking it.
Bugs-n-Bunnys 08-25-06, 03:29 AM I went back to see the doctor I'm thinking of keeping and he put me back on the dex. I feel great. One thing I wasn't ready to admit in my last post was I almost immediately went back to my eating disorder when I stopped the dex, and now that I'm back on it, the eating disorder has disappreared again. It's great I've had that damn disorder for 20 years, everyday for 20 years until dex then stopped gone, it is such a great feeling. But when it came back, I was miserable, I had to beg to get my dex back, but he gave it to me and now I'm great again.
Matt S. 08-28-06, 11:20 AM I have been in a denial fit for a bit... and I have been off dexedrine for a week and dumped the script etc... get the next one on thursday which is good because although i am hyper and giddy I am argumentative and distracted as all hell... I mean I feel great but cant finish a single thing time to slow down... my doctor is a bit angry at me too
