I need some advice!!! I've been taking Ritalin & Ritalin SR for over a year for my adult adhd. I had immediate success with both of these and they seem to be "doing their job". Well, about 2 months ago I started to feel like they were loosing their effectivness- then all of the sudden- nothing! It was like I was taking placebo pills or something. I tried increasing the dose slightly a few times and that didn't work either. I always take medication "holiday's" on the weekends, and I tried stopping it all for almost 2 weeks and nothing worked. After reading several posts on this board, I understand that Ritalin can stop working sometimes and you may need to change medication. Have anyone else had a similar situation? Anyone go from Ritalin to another medication with success?

Yep.
I started off with Ritalin that I got from friends.
I constantly had to increase.
When I was diagnosed I asked for Adderall.
It worked pretty well for me, much better than Ritalin.
Still amazed that people actually take that drug.

have been taking ritalin for 2 months now. After seeing your post I am definitely asking my dr today to switch me to adderall.

I am now taking 20 mg three times daily. I am having a hard time when it goes out of my system. I find I'm looking at the clock for my next pill.

thanks for the incite from you. I'll be seeing my dr today for my monthly eval.

I would like to know how ritalin effected you when you first started taking it. would like to compare similar effects if there are any.
